This illustration was drawn for a proposal to study organelle exclusion from the mitotic spindle. This proposal highlighted ER/mitochondrial contacts and ER morphology as potential mechanisms of mitochondrial exclusion. Thus, this figure highlighted correct mitochondrial exclusion from the spindle during mitosis. This style was utilized to easily translate to a "chalk talk" for the final presentation.
